Exploring Meta Earth's Metaverse: From Technical Architecture to Real-World Application

In 2021, the hottest term in the capital market was undoubtedly "metaverse." Why are top global internet companies and capital, from Facebook to Microsoft and Google, competing to chase the metaverse? Do we really need the metaverse, or is it simply a demand from capital? Although the hype around the metaverse has declined compared to previous years, its underlying significance and future potential still deserve our contemplation.


Returning to reality, the feasibility of the metaverse inevitably raises numerous questions given current technological and governance capabilities: Can the metaverse truly be realized, and if so, how? Skeptics argue that this is merely a repackaging of old concepts, with some even mocking the current iteration of the "metaverse" as just a patchwork of blockchain ideas.


As we await the true emergence of the metaverse, opinions remain divided, much like early mobile phone users who could hardly imagine the transformative impact of the iPhone. Fortunately, we are witnessing the strong driving force and innovative vitality of the crypto community, which has never ceased its exploration of the metaverse.

If ME Network is the underlying foundation for building Meta Earth, then a robust on-chain identity system serves as the “bridge” for digital citizens to achieve equal rights.


Within this system, ME ID is the credential that grants digital citizens data sovereignty and equal rights within Meta Earth. To ensure the authenticity of each digital citizen’s identity and prevent multiple IDs for a single person, every ME ID is issued only after KYC verification.


Some may question: How can users trust that their sensitive KYC information won’t be misused by the platform?


To address this, we apply homomorphic encryption to encrypt users’ local biometric data (e.g., facial images, voiceprints) into irreversible ciphertext. The server processes verification and matching operations using ciphertext without decrypting the raw data. In other words, the platform cannot access users’ actual KYC data and only processes encrypted information, thereby ensuring each digital citizen’s identity is unique and authentic.


For added privacy protection, we perform fine-grained segmentation of KYC data, implementing multiple layers of encryption and distributed storage. Once an ME ID is bound to KYC data, the system issues on-chain digital identities through encrypted authorization, ensuring uniqueness.



In creating a realistic Meta Earth, we also strictly adhere to KYC compliance requirements across more than 200 countries and regions. After completing KYC, users can mint their ME ID in NFT format, signed and issued by local nodes, and used in community governance and voting to guarantee equal rights for all community members.


To facilitate on-chain identity management, we have introduced a Web3 portal called ME Pass. Users can easily apply for and obtain an ME ID via ME Pass, achieving seamless on- and off-chain interactions. As Meta Earth’s passport, ME Pass empowers users to manage their identity autonomously, safeguarding data privacy and security. Users can self-custody their ME ID without disclosing information to third parties, ensuring better privacy protection and user experience. In the future, we plan to incorporate zero-knowledge proofs to establish a shared, universal on-chain identity protocol that accommodates diverse ecosystem interactions.


In sum, ME Pass and ME ID represent more than just an on-chain identity system; they are the trust credentials for real-world citizens migrating into Meta Earth. They grant users greater autonomy, support community governance and digital economy participation, and provide a solid foundation for Meta Earth’s development.


3. Embracing RWA and Fostering a Compliant Ecosystem


Compared to native on-chain assets, Real World Assets (RWA) inherently involve centralized aspects, such as off-chain asset custody. If off-chain assets are lost, damaged, or stolen, the corresponding RWA token on-chain would lack actual backing. Additionally, loan agreements may require off-chain asset liquidation processes, which smart contracts alone cannot enforce and would need to rely on legal channels.


In today’s regulatory landscape, securing regulatory support is crucial for the large-scale on-chain representation of off-chain assets. The asset tokenization process needs regulatory endorsement to ensure legal protection and minimize custodial moral risks.


Currently, governments worldwide are formulating strict regulatory policies to standardize asset tokenization. This trend creates an important opportunity for RWA development. Integrating government regulation and traditional finance with the crypto world indeed raises concerns about privacy, security, and trust. Through DID technology, we can potentially reconcile encryption with regulation—providing on-chain activities with regulatory compatibility while safeguarding user privacy, thus enabling services such as asset verification and secure transactions.


Meta Earth excels in this area. We provide each digital citizen with an ME ID based on the Web3 DID standard, ensuring compliance and regulatory friendliness while protecting user privacy. The identity system built on ME ID and ME Pass serves as a credit foundation on-chain and supports the expansion of additional ecosystem application scenarios.


Regarding RWA, Meta Earth upholds the belief in enhancing human happiness and fostering sustainable development, with a focus on ME Green—our green economy initiative. On Meta Earth, we are establishing a dedicated bridge for carbon credits, enabling certified off-chain carbon credits to be tokenized and traded on-chain. This entire process, along with carbon credit information, will be recorded in a blockchain-driven open database accessible to all for independent review of attributes, transaction history, and price data.
